Wheel Repairs
Have a wheel in need of a little TLC?
Get in touch with Peter and see what can be done. He loves Wee Peggy wheels and is also happy to work on Ashford wheels. Be aware however, some components may be costly to replace or repair, eg., the main wheel itself. Then there is the issue of threaded parts on many older wheels; the whorls etc. They are likely to be imperial and today's metric threads just don't fit....
Sadly there comes a time when a pre-loved wheel can no longer be kept running at a reasonable cost. Also, some wheels were never made to be upgraded or have parts replaced, also at a reasonable cost.
Peter's advice? If someone is selling you a spinning wheel, "all parts are there", "works perfectly", "was my mother's, I know nothing about spinning" or similar claims, ensure you have a "may return if advice deems the wheel is no longer fit for service or parts are indeed missing or simply, it just does not work" clause in the deal! We have seen some wheels made by woodworkers, where the timber work was absolutely stunning, the wheel was not made to spin.
